Autumn-like Week Expected (Sept 15-19)

High pressure has taken control of the mid-Atlantic US region and will continue to build throughout the entire week. The only day that rain seems possible is Tuesday from a very weak frontal passage. Otherwise, get ready for an Autumn-like week to officially close summer out. Let’s look at each day through Friday:

Monday should be mostly sunny with just a few clouds here and there. Temperatures will max out in the lower 70s again like yesterday. Winds will be very light out of the W/NW with perhaps a SE breeze off the ocean for coastal/SENJ. Clouds should increase towards the evening as lows drop into the 50s. A shower to two is possible before midnight.

Tuesday might start with rain showers from a weak passing disturbance but should clear sometime between afternoon and evening, if not sooner. No big deal at all. The main period of precipitation appears to be late Monday night through noon on Tuesday. Temperatures will reach into the 70s with light N/NW winds before falling back into the 40s and 50s.

Both Wednesday and Thursday look like carbon copies of each other. Expect mostly sunny skies, highs in the lower-70s, light northerly flow, and overnight lows in the 40s and 50s.

Friday should see a wind shift to the east at 5-10mph. This should keep the coastal areas warmer but interior NJ might struggle to break 70. The easterly flow could enhance cloud cover and even form a passing shower or two. Lows then drop into the 40s and 50s before starting the weekend with more of the same.
