Cool Wet Start. Nice Finish (April 27-29)

Discussion: A cool rainy Friday followed by a warm mostly-dry Saturday and ending with a cool, clear and breezy Sunday. You might see a little rain Saturday evening into early Sunday morning but daytime hours for both Saturday and Sunday look mostly okay. The biggest change I see on the horizon is for next Tuesday morning and forward. A ridge will build over the E US and keep New Jersey very warm until at least next Friday. All the fun stuff that comes with this like humidity, pop-up showers and thunderstorms are on the table for this period. The headline will likely be warmth though. We should then transition back to average temperatures for next weekend which, for early May, are some pretty darn good conditions.

Friday (April 27) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s statewide. Skies should be mostly cloudy with periods of rain likely through afternoon hours. Winds should be light out of the E/NE. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s statewide after evening skies clear.

Saturday (April 28) high temperatures should easily reach into the 60s statewide. Interior CNJ/SNJ has the best shot of breaking 70. Skies should be partly-to-mostly sunny with a small chance of an isolated shower. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s for most.

Sunday (April 29) high temperatures should reach the mid-50s for most. Skies should be partly sunny. Winds should be breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 30s for most. I would expect frost/freeze advisories to fly heading into Monday morning re: outdoor vegetative interests.

An early look at next week indicates very warm temperatures from Tuesday-forward (after a temperature-challenged Monday). We’re talking 80s away from the ocean and 60s even for the immediate coast. Lots of 70s between. I’m not seeing any rain systems but pop-up showers and even thunderstorms are possible with such a setup. Otherwise expect warm and sunny skies with some of that humidity we all love so much starting to trickle in. Let’s take another look on Sunday. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
