Dry and Sunny Weekend Expected (Dec 12-14)

The low pressure system that has been impacting the region since Monday night is finally moving away to the northeast. High pressure will now move in and dry things out for the weekend. Let’s look at each day:

Friday will only reach into the 30s for most of the state. Winds will be 10-15mph out of the NW with gusts to 25mph. Clouds will likely linger for most of the day but look for the sun to poke through before sunset. Overnight lows then fall into the 20s statewide.

Saturday should reach the upper-30s (NWNJ) and lower-40s (SENJ) for highs. Skies should be mostly sunny with possibly a few flat-bottom fair-weather clouds. Winds will remain stiff at 10-15mph with gusts to 25mph out of the N/NW. Overnight lows should then fall into the upper-20s/lower-30s.

Sunday will feel slightly mild with highs in the 40s statewide and mostly sunny skies. Do the lower elevations of New Jersey break 50? We’ll see. Winds will still be out of the N/NW but slightly relaxed. Overnight lows then return to the 20s and 30s.

An early look at next week indicates more of the same for Monday—maybe even a few degrees warmer. A low pressure disturbance looks to affect the region Tuesday-Wednesday but that looks warm and rainy. Temperature-wise we’ll stay slightly above average for the next week or so. All eyes on the period starting around December 19 for the next cold/snow possibilities.
