Mixed Weather on Tap this Weekend (Sept 12-14)

Both Friday and Sunday are looking pretty good this weekend. Saturday however could fall victim to a low pressure disturbance moving through. This would specifically affect the New Jersey region with anything from overcast spotty drizzle to heavier rain showers, especially in the afternoon. Let’s break each day down:

Friday will feature mostly sunny skies with just a few clouds and very pleasant conditions. Highs should top out in the mid-70s accompanied by a light NW breeze. Overnight lows will then fall to the upper-50s.

Saturday is tricky. Model guidance is split on rain intensity but agrees on rain, especially in the afternoon. The GFS likes a spottier-scattered shower situation while the Euro favors heavier rainfall. Total precipitation should range from .15 to half an inch. Regardless, highs might only stay in the 60s for most of the state with only coastal/SENJ breaking 70. Winds should be 5-10mph out of the east with gusts to 15mph. Overnight lows then plunge into the 50s (40s in NWNJ).

Sunday should feel noticeably pleasant and comfortable with highs topping out in the low 70s. Humidity will be low with a light easterly breeze. Expect a mostly sunny day before overnight lows drop into the 40s and 50s again. Next week looks like more of the same…in one word, autumn.
