Operation Halloween this Weekend!

Operation Halloween Cover

Operation Halloween is a charity Halloween festival that includes both scary and kid-friendly fun that is hosted by the Southern Ocean Rotary Club and The Jersey Shore Council Boy Scouts of America. The event is held Friday and Saturday, October 21-22 at the Joseph A Citta Scout Reservation located at 229 Brookville Road in Barnegat, NJ.

FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN (4-7 PM)

Pumpkin Street
Loaded with kids games, activities, and great food there is something for everyone on Pumpkin Street. The whole family can trick or treat, roam a hay maze, paint a pumpkin, or make their own scarecrow at one of the booths hosted by local non-profit groups. Pumpkin Street also features a bounce house and other inflatable fun.

HAUNTED ATTRACTIONS (7-10 PM)

Terror In The Pines (formally Zombie Outbreak)
The legions of the undead have risen and begun to feed on the living. Fear not, the ZCA has been called into action. Our team of highly trained Anti-Zombie Commandos will cover you as you make your way through infected zone to safety. What could possibly go wrong?

BENEFICIARIES

100% of the proceeds from Operation Halloween go to benefit the many participating charities. The primary beneficiaries are the hosts of the event: The Southern Ocean Rotary Club and The Jersey Shore Council Boy Scouts of America.

With over 1.2 million members worldwide, Rotary is made up of three parts: at the heart of Rotary are local clubs that are supported by Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. Proceeds from Operation Halloween in the past have gone to support scholarships for local students and local habitat for humanity construction projects as well as donations to Polio Plus and Shelter Box to support humanitarian relief efforts overseas.

Boy Scouts of America – Jersey Shore Council, headquartered in Toms River, serves more than 6,000 young people in Ocean, Burlington, Atlantic, and Cape May counties. Proceeds from Operation Halloween in the past have helped support the many community service projects the Scouts perform as well as make upgrades and repairs to the facilities at the Joseph A Citta Scout Reservation in Brookville, where the event is held.

In addition to the Scouts and Rotarians, there are also many other local non-profit groups who support and benefit from the event as vendors and volunteers.

BROOKVILLE EVENT FORECAST

Forecast Discussion: Both event days (Friday and Saturday) should feature clear and dry conditions with pleasant fall temperatures. Sunday a little milder than Saturday. We can thank the western side of a broad and elongated area of high pressure for this. The moon phase is waning crescent (almost new) so expect a dark sky for event hours with the moon only rising above the horizon towards the end of the event.

Friday (Oct 21) temperatures should reach the mid-60s around 3pm, fall down through the 50s through sunset, then drop into the upper-40s during dark event hours. Skies should be mostly sunny/clear with light winds out of the S/SW.

Saturday (Oct 22) temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 60s around 3pm, fall down through the lower-60s/upper-50s through sunset, then drop to near-50 during dark event hours. Skies should transition from mostly clear during the day to cloudy at night. This should make it extra dark in the pines. Winds should be light out of the NE.
