Get Ready for a Warm Week! (Sep 2-5)

hot summer sunset in new jersey

A high pressure ridge driven by the Bermuda High will dominate the weather pattern this week. For many this means some of the warmest and most humid conditions so far this summer.  Upper-level low pressure-driven troughs have dominated the mid-Atlantic US since practically Memorial Day Weekend so it should feel quite tropical out there this week. Let’s break it down:

Tuesday should be a hot and humid day with temperatures reaching 90 statewide. Coastal/SENJ could experience sea breeze relief. Expect variable clouds with isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible, especially in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be 5-15mph out of the SW until a cold front moves through. Then we should see NW flow with overnight lows falling into the upper-60s. That should feel quite nice!

Wednesday should bring slight relief from the humidity but temperatures will still reach well into the 80s. Expect mostly sunny skies with light NW flow before overnight lows drop back into the 60s. Another great night!

Thursday should be warm and sunny with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. The flow will switch to the south at 5-10mph which should start to trickle humidity back into the region. Overnight lows then return into the 60s.

Friday we should be back to a 5-15 mph SW flow which will make it hot and humid. More Bermuda High influence! Temperatures should reach 90 with high dew points under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows into Saturday might only dip to 70. Saturday looks possibly stormy with a cold front passing through the region. That should usher fall-like weather back into the region which should last into next week.
