Discussion: Give it until early-afternoon Friday for rain to clear out. If all goes well it might clear by late-morning. The rain, maybe a few boomers, will be from energy departing with the developed surface low to our NE. After that (~noon on Friday and beyond) an area of high pressure will dive southward out of Canada and deliver a fresh injection of cool and dry air. Initially (Friday afternoon and overnight into Saturday morning) winds could be breezy-to-gusty as the upper-level (250-500mb) NW jet flexes in the backside of the trough. By late-morning Saturday the upper-level NW jet should relax—yielding beautiful conditions for both Saturday and Sunday. We’re talking NW or W/NW cool dry breeze under the highest sun angle of the year. Absolute perfection for early summer IMO. Humidity and summer heat should return for next week but it won’t be as unsettled as this week was. Not even close. Perhaps some isolated/scattered activity here and there throughout the week. Bottom line: The upper-level trough will have control this weekend but the ridge will take over next week.

Friday (June 21) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s for most areas with interior CNJ/SNJ the best shot to break 80. Skies should start mostly cloudy with remnant rain/storms but transition to a beautiful feel. Winds should be breezy, even gusty at times, out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from mid-50s to mid-60s NNJ to SNJ under pleasant skies.

Saturday (June 22) high temperatures should range from mid-70s to near-80 for most areas. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from near-50 to near-60.

Sunday (June 23) high temperatures should range from upper-70s to lower-80s for most areas. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should range from mid-50s to mid-60s NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at next week indicates humidity returning with temperatures in the 80s. Not really seeing much rain. Looks pretty seasonably-average IMO. Let’s take another look on Sunday. Have a nice weekend and please be safe! JC
