Mostly Nice Week Expected (Sept 11-15)

Aside from a few passing showers we’re looking pretty good this week. Let’s break it down…

Discussion: I apologize for getting the Monday-Friday Outlook  to you so late. Thankfully today is a boring day weather-wise. High pressure continues to track over our region towards Bermuda. Irma’s remnants continue to slide under this high towards W TN. The high should fizzle out and blow away to the E followed by a very weak remnant disturbance from Irma shortly behind. This should all happen between now and Friday. The periods where rain showers are possible are Wednesday into Thursday AM and Friday. I’m not impressed with rainfall amounts and therefore such should be of nuisance caliber.  Today, tomorrow and Thursday PM look dry. The weekend looks mostly dry but a few unsettled factors are showing up. Therefore we have to allow for a small chance of passing showers both Saturday and Sunday. This would fall under

Monday (Sept 11) high temperatures should reach the mid-70s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel thanks to lower dew points. Winds should be light out of the N for most but possibly out of the E/NE for coastal areas. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s for most with NNJ elevations possibly falling into the 40s.

Tuesday (Sept 12) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s. 80 is not off the table away from the ocean. Skies should be partly sunny with a continued pleasant feel. Winds should be somewhat tranquil away from the ocean but coastal regions could see a stiff breeze out of the E/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s/60s for most.

Wednesday (Sept 13) high temperatures should reach the mid-70s statewide. Skies should be partly sunny with isolated passing showers possible. Winds should be light out of the E/SE for most. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s statewide.

Thursday (Sept 14) high temperatures should reach the upper-70s, possibly lower-80s, for most. Skies should be partly sunny with more passing showers possible. This looks like the warmest-feeling day of the week. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s statewide.

Friday (Sept 15) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s statewide. Skies should be mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers possible. Winds should be light out of the S/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s statewide.

An early look at the weekend indicates partly-to-mostly cloudy conditions. Sunday looks cloudier than Saturday but both days should at least feature periods of sun. A small chance of passing isolated showers are possible both Saturday and Sunday. Let’s take a closer look in a few days.

I’m watching Jose but possible impacts to the east coast, if any, wouldn’t occur until mid-next week. That is simply too far out to speculate. I’ll have a much better idea later this week when we’re inside the 7-day window of potential impact. For now please relax and thank you for your patience and understanding! Have a great week and please be safe! JC
