Nice Start to the Week (Aug 14-18)

This week looks to start nice. As of right now Sunday looks like the best day of the weekend. Let’s break it down…

Discussion: UDATED 8/15/2017 10AM: Hurricane Gert’s rate of groth has had a bit more influence over our weather pattern than expected, particularly it’s outer-fringe outflow and interaction with the nearby frontal boundary. For this reason, rainfall has occurred on both Monday and Tuesday especially across CNJ and SNJ. Rain is now expected to clear for Wednesday and most of Thursday before the next front comes through Friday-Saturday.

Monday (Aug 14) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s statewide. Skies should be partly-to-mostly cloudy with light rain possible during evening hours. Winds should be light out of the E/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s statewide.

Tuesday (Aug 15) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s statewide. Skies should be mostly cloudy with more rainfall possible. Winds should be light out of the E/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most but might hang around 70 along the immediate coast.

Wednesday (Aug 16) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 80s away from the ocean. 90 is reachable for interior CNJ/SNJ. NNJ elevations and coastal regions might be held to the low-to-mid 80s. Skies should be partly-to-mostly sunny and humid (more humid closer to the coast). Humidity levels could vary statewide with the departing tropical system. For this reason we have to allow the chance for isolated pop-up showers and thunderstorms. Winds should be light out of the E/SE for coastal areas but might transition to the W/NW for interior regions. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most but might hang around 70 along the immediate coast.

Thursday (Aug 17) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s for most. Interior regions could reach into the mid-to-upper 80s. Skies should be partly cloudy with isolated-to-scattered showers and thunderstorms possible during PM hours. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should fall into the upper-60s/lower-70s statewide.

Friday (Aug 18) high temperatures should reach into the 80s statewide. Skies should be partly sunny with rain and thunderstorms possible during afternoon-evening hours. Winds should be light out of the E/NE. Overnight lows should fall into the upper-60s/lower-70s statewide. Overnight unsettled conditions are expected into Saturday.

An early look at the weekend indicates Sunday being the better day. With the slow moving frontal passage, anyone is game for rain and thunderstorms between Friday and Saturday. Let’s take a closer look when we’re a few days closer to the weekend. Everyone have a great week and please be safe! JC
