Summery Conditions

summery weather expected

Discussion: A prolonged series of ridging should establish over the E US over the next 10 days or so. This will keep temps slightly warmer than average with above-average humidity. We should see several thunderstorms chances in this period. Not seeing a relieving cold front until closer to next weekend. From now until then, summery conditions are extended. This weekend looks a little nicer but not the typical fallish feel that should come by next weekend. The tropics are active but no current threats to NJ. We might see remnants well offshore this weekend but no direct threats other than elevated surf.

Monday (Sept 13) high temperatures should reach the mid-80s for most areas. Some heat indices could pop above 90 with the elevated humidity. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds with haze possible from wildfire smoke. Winds should be light out of the W. Overnight lows should range from near-60 to near-70 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.

Tuesday (Sept 14) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 80s for most areas. Coastal regions closer to 80. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds with more haze possible from wildfire smoke. Winds should be light out of the SE. Overnight lows should fall to near-70 for most areas.

Wednesday (Sept 15) high temperatures should break 90 for many locations of interior CNJ/SNJ. Coastal regions closer to 80. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds with afternoon showers/thunderstorms possible. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from mid-60s to near-70 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.

Thursday (Sept 16) high temperatures should range from mid-70s to lower-80s from N to S. Skies should be mostly cloudy with a humid feel. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the day. Winds should be light out of the SE. Overnight lows should fall to near-70 for most areas.

Friday (Sept 17) high temperatures should struggle to escape the 70s but still with a humid feel. Skies should be mixed with thunderstorms possible, especially afternoon-evening hours. Winds should be light out of the E/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the mid-to-upper 60s for most areas.

An early look at the weekend indicates temperatures in the 78-85 range with clouds and sun. Still some humidity around but otherwise nice. The humidity might not clear out until the following week. A nice stretch of local summer. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
