Chilly Start. Mild Finish. Sound Familiar?

Discussion: The upper jet should stay in a zonal pattern with split flow at times this week. The back side of a departing trough will keep NJ chillier today (Monday) through Thursday morning. Then Thursday into the weekend rebounds with milder temperatures under a building ridge. The next few days are going to keep the heaters and jackets on. This week looks dry with lots of high pressure around/floating through.

Forecast

Monday (April 6) high temperatures maxed in the mid-to-upper 50s for most NJ areas. Conditions will stay status quo overnight with light W/SW winds as lows drop to the 35-45 range NNJ to SNJ with a few isolated passing showers possible.

Tuesday (April 7) high temperatures should reach near-50 for most NJ areas. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should be breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should drop to the 23-33 range NNJ to SNJ marking the coldest point of the week.

Wednesday (April 8) high temperatures should reach near-50 again for most NJ areas. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the E/NE, breeziest along the ECNJ/SENJ coasts. Overnight lows should fall back to the 28-38 range NNJ to SNJ.

Thursday (April 9) high temperatures should reach closer to 60 for most NJ areas away from the ocean. Coastal regions could hang closer to 50. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the E. Overnight lows should fall to the 33-43 range NNJ to SNJ.

Friday (April 10) high temperatures should reach near-70 for most NJ areas away from the ocean. Coastal regions could hang closer to 60. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall to the 45-50 range NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at the weekend (April 11-12) indicates dry and milder conditions. Highs well into 60s and overnight lows above freezing even for NNJ elevations. Let’s take a closer look in a few days. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
