Conditions Improve after Friday

Discussion: The upper levels will transition to a zonal pattern as the trough exists our region to the E. It should stay this way until mid-next week. A mostly dry frontal passage will pass through NJ by early Saturday morning and yield a dry Saturday and Sunday for New Jersey. Monday looks a bit unsettled. The best thunderstorm dynamics will be to our W in PA, Ohio Valley, up through Great Lakes. Unsure of remnant intensity once it gets over NJ but you can assume WNJ will see stronger storms than ENJ. We’ll cross that bridge in a few days. The rest of next week looks very typical for summer. Highs in the 80s, seasonably average humidity (dews in 60s not 70s), and overnights in the 60s (maybe upper-50s for some). The tropics remain quiet as we approach the ramp-up of peak hurricane season.

Friday (Aug 4) high temperatures, as of 230pm, are maxing in the 70s with cloud cover and an overall more humid feel than we’ve had the last few days. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible for the rest of Friday PM into overnight hours. Winds will remain light-to-breezy out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from 60-70 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.  

Saturday (Aug 5) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s with a less humid feel than Friday. Any overnight rain or storms should end by daybreak. Skies should then be mixed with sun and clouds from sunrise-forward. Winds should be light out of the N. Overnight lows should range from 55-65 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.  

Sunday (Aug 6) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s. Skies should then be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should remain light out of the N. Overnight lows should range from 55-65 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.  

An early look at next week indicates an unsettled start (Monday into Tuesday AM). Tuesday through the rest of the week looks good for the most part. Highs in the 80s, humidity somewhat in-check, lows in the 60s. No large scale storm systems but pop-ups possible daily. Typical August summer weather IMO. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
