Cool and Dry

Discussion: We have some unorganized low pressure in the nearby Atlantic Ocean that should fail to reach the NJ coast this weekend. It might keep ECNJ/SENJ cloudier than the rest of NJ at times…or perhaps you might just see the cloud edge offshore…but rain should stay away. On the NW side of this low energy exists a weak banana high pressure configuration that should keep NJ cool and dry under stable sinking air. Next week we moderate a little but nothing too crazy. Highs back to near-60 maybe even lower-60s and overnight lows down into 30s/40s. Looking like a frontal passage next Friday that would produce much colder conditions for next weekend. I have a gut feeling we will be talking first snow possibility soon, at least for NWNJ elevations.

Friday (Nov 5) high temperatures are maxing in the low-to-mid 50s. Skies are mostly clear and should stay that way for most. Perhaps some clouds overnight for parts of ECNJ/SENJ. Winds are light out of the N today and overnight lows should range from mid-20s to mid-40s from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts. The line of freezing should set up somewhere near I-95 in general but I could see some interior SNJ Pine Barrens locations drop below freezing.

Saturday (Nov 6) high temperatures should reach the mid-50s for most areas. Skies should be mostly sunny with the caveat of possibly some more cloud coverage for ECNJ/SENJ. Winds should be light out of the E/NE. Overnight lows should range from near-30 to near-50 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.

Sunday (Nov 7) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s for most areas. Skies should be sunnier NW of I-95 and cloudier SE of I-95 but it looks like rain will stay mostly offshore as of now. Winds should be out of the N/NE, less breezy away from the ocean and breezier along the immediate ECNJ/SENJ coasts. Overnight lows should range from near-30 to mid-40s from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.

An early look at next week indicates conditions not as cold as the past few days. More like highs near-60 and lows in the 40s. No major weather systems tracking as of now. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
