Cooler Conditions Expected (March 15-17)

Discussion: A cold front will push through this evening after a very mild, warm sector-influenced, day. Rain and thunderstorms are possible ahead and along the cold front. This should set up a cooler Saturday through Wednesday. I’m watching Monday for a weak disturbance capable of dropping conversational snow for NNJ and light rain for SNJ. From Wednesday-forward we return to mild conditions again as back-side high pressure influence (return flow) takes hold. Despite this weekend looking cooler than today/yesterday it should be sunny and dry.

Friday (March 15) high temperatures have cracked 70 with the exception of NNJ elevations and immediate SENJ coastal regions. Skies should remain mixed with showers and thunderstorms possible this evening. Winds should remain light-to-breezy out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should fall to near-40 for most.

Saturday (March 16) high temperatures should reach near-50 for most areas. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should be breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from mid-20s to mid-30s NNJ to SNJ.

Sunday (March 17) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 40s. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W. Overnight lows should range from mid-20s to mid-30s NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at next week indicates cooler conditions like this weekend to start. We might see a weak disturbance move through on Monday capable of dropping conversational snow for NNJ and rain for SNJ. By Wednesday mild conditions (highs in the 50s/60s maybe breaking 70 like today) should return to the region. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
