Good Stuff after Friday

Discussion: With no major features over the next week, the upper-jet looks rather inconclusive IMO. Stepping down to 500mb, again no major features. A current upper-low will move out after today (Friday) as ridging establishes across the Mid-Atlantic and NorthEast US Saturday-Tuesday (dry and mild conditions). The region is then expected to become unsettled again from Wednesday into the first half of next weekend as remnants of an upper-low slowly push through the Mid-Atlantic US. No major storm systems or thunderstorm outbreaks expected in the foreseeable future (7 days). Just some routine transitional spring stuff (nice days mixed with rainy muggy days).

Forecast

Friday (May 9) high temperatures should max in the 60-68 range NNJ to SNJ (we’re only a few hours away from that now). Skies should remain mostly cloudy with a humid feel with the sun poking through here and there (best chance in WCNJ/SNJ). Most of the main rain batch is through but a few remnant bands could still push through this afternoon/evening before overnight improvement. Winds should remain light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall to near-50 as remnant rain showers give way to clearing skies by Saturday morning.

Saturday (May 10) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s for most NJ locations. Skies should be mixed with more sun than clouds. A much improved look and feel with lower humidity. Winds should be light to breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from 45-60 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.

Sunday (May 11) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s for most NJ locations but could possibly run up into the upper-70s/near-80 in a few spots due to drier air. The lower humidity will remain in place keeping the great look and feel alive. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from 40-55 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.

An early look at next week (May 12-16) indicates temperatures in the 70s almost every day. Monday-Tuesday look like a continuation of this weekend’s awesome conditions, possibly a litter warmer into the lower-80s, we’ll see. Wednesday into the first half of next weekend looks unsettled, meaning clouds, rain possibly storms here and there. Let’s take a closer look in a few days. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
