Good Stuff Incoming!

Discussion: The stormy humid “ring of fire” pattern is coming to an end after one more night of storms (tonight – Friday night). I will be tracking with radar observation posts. The cold front should push through from N to S during early Saturday AM hours which will make for a more comfortable Saturday and an extremely comfortable Sunday. These conditions should actually last through Wednesday before we reset some heat and humidity for Thurs-Sat. We can thank the upper jet kinking into a NW flow for this behind the trough that will be backing in/establishing for the NE US. It basically places NJ under NW flow aloft which will propagate down to the surface as wind from a cooler/drier air mass upstream. The tropics remain quiet in the Atlantic and active in the Pacific, as you would expect from a strong El Nino setup.

Forecast

Friday (Sept 4) high temperatures maxed in the mid-to-upper 80s for most NJ locations with a humid feel. A few of the traditional warmer spots near I-95/NJTP might have just touched 90. Skies have been mixed with sun and clouds. Showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening into overnight hours. Winds should remain light out of the W/NW (while not under/near a storm). Overnight lows should fall to the 60-70 range from NNJ to SNJ.

Saturday (Sept 5) high temperatures should reach near-80 for most NJ locations. Skies should be mixed with more sun than clouds and a more comfortable feel due to lower humidity. Not fall weather yet but certainly pleasant late-summer weather. Winds should be light out of the N/NW. Overnight lows should range from 55-65 NNJ to SNJ.

Sunday (Sept 6) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s. Skies should be mixed with more sun than clouds with a continued pleasant feel (low humidity). Winds should be light out of the E/NE. Overnight lows should fall to the 50-60 range NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at next week (Sept 7-11) indicates the pleasant conditions lasting through about Wednesday. We could see the return of a little heat and humidity for Thursday-Saturday before returning to a drier and comfortable feel shortly after. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
