Gorgeous Conditions Expected! (June 15-17)

Discussion: An area of high pressure will track from the Great Lakes towards Bermuda from now until Tuesday. This sets up the northerly cyclonic flow to start the weekend and southerly return flow to end it. That will take us from warm and dry today-Saturday to hot and sticky for Sunday and Monday. Tuesday should follow suit until the frontal passage arrives during Tuesday PM hours. I would expect periods of rainfall and thunderstorms given the air mass that the cold front will be plowing into. Rainfall should move through by Wednesday morning and then we wash rinse repeat with another area of high pressure moving in. That should keep us warm and possibly dry for a second weekend in a row. Imagine that?

Friday (June 15) high temperatures should reach the upper-70s/lower-80s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the N/NW. Overnight lows should range from 50-60 NNJ to SNJ.

Saturday (June 16) high temperatures should reach well into the 80s for most. Immediate coastal areas might hang in the upper-70s. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most.

Sunday (June 17) high temperatures should easily reach into the 80s for most with 90s possible for much of interior NJ. Skies should be partly sunny with noticeably-increased humidity. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should only fall into the upper-60s for most. There’s a good chance many areas stay at 70 or above heading into Monday morning.

An early look at next week indicates a hot start (triple-H material…that’s Hazy, Hot and Humid) with a return to average temperatures (low-80s) for mid-week and forward. The only rain I see is isolated-to-scattered Monday (if conditions pop-off PM showers and thunderstorms) and a frontal passage Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. At this point another warm and dry stretch is expected from Wednesday through next weekend. Let’s take a closer look on Sunday. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
