Mild Conditions (March 9-13)

Discussion: The upper-level jet should remain loose and disorganized over the E US through about Thursday. We’ll then see an upper-level jet streak overhead for Friday-Saturday. Aside from a transient trough nose swinging through in that same period, much of the Mid-Atlantic US will remain under a sea of ridging. At the surface we’ll see well-above average temperatures for Monday-Tuesday as the departing Bermuda high kicks SW flow into the region. A weak disturbance Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and then a stronger disturbance Thursday night into Friday (ending around noon). Neither disturbance looks wintry for New Jersey so rain is the likely form of precipitation. The Thursday-Friday system could pack some higher winds with it but nothing crazy. We then turn cooler but more settled for the weekend.

Monday (March 9) high temperatures should reach well into the 60s for most areas. Interior CNJ/SNJ closer to 70 and SENJ coastal regions closer to 60. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the SW. Overnight lows should range from near-40 to near-50 NNJ to SNJ.

Tuesday (March 10) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 60s for most areas. Skies should be partly-to-mostly cloudy with afternoon/evening rain showers around. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from mid-30s to mid-40s NNJ to SNJ.

Wednesday (March 11) high temperatures should reach the mid-50s for most areas. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds after any early-morning rain tapers off. Winds should be light out of the N/NE. Overnight lows should range from lower-30s to lower-40s NNJ to SNJ.

Thursday (March 12) high temperatures should reach the mid-50s for most areas. Interior CNJ/SNJ might take a shot at 60. Skies should remain mixed with sun and clouds during the day. Periods of rain are possible overnight. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should range from near-40 to near-50 NNJ to SNJ.

Friday (March 13) high temperatures should reach well into the 60s for most areas. 70 not off the table in the typical warmer locations of interior CNJ/SNJ. Skies should start mostly cloudy with AM rain showers but improve by afternoon. Winds should be light out of the SW turning breezier out of the NW for overnight hours. Overnight lows should range from lower-30s to near-40 NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at the weekend indicates cooler conditions but still relatively mild. We’re talking highs near-50 with sun and clouds. No major storm systems on the foreseeable horizon. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
