Mild with Spring Showers Around

Discussion: We’re sort of stuck in a SW flow pattern due to high pressure established offshore in the Atlantic Ocean. That should keep the entire week mild with the exception of Thursday. That’s when high pressure tracking W to E across SE Canada will provide onshore flow for the ocean to chill NJ down for a day or so. Otherwise rainfall will occur with random showers and possibly some rumbles here and there. This is the time of year where such showers are possible almost at anytime anywhere. No concentrated rain systems expected but yeah…isolated passing spring showers and rumbles here and there.

Forecast

Monday (March 30) high temperatures are maxing in the 65-70 range for many away from the ocean. 58-65 along the coast. Skies are mixed with more sun than clouds. A super small chance for a passing isolated shower but most should stay dry. Winds should remain light to breezy out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall to the 50-55 range with isolated showers and even a few rumbles possible into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday (March 31) high temperatures should reach the upper-70s/lower-80s for many NJ locations. Coastal areas should hang closer to 70. Skies should start with a few clouds and showers early but give way to improvement by late-morning/afternoon. Winds should remain light to breezy out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall to the 60-65 range with a few more isolated showers possible into Wednesday morning.

Wednesday (April 1) high temperatures should well into the 70s again for most NJ locations. Closer to 80 inland and closer to 70 along the ECNJ/SENJ coast. Skies should start clear and sunny but increase in cloud coverage by afternoon with showers and thunderstorms possible for afternoon/evening hours. Winds should be light out of the SW, a little breezier along the ocean. Overnight lows should fall to the 45-50 range NNJ-SNJ as showers and thunderstorms clear out.

Thursday (April 2) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 50s. Skies should be mostly cloudy with isolated passing showers possible. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the E/NE, breeziest along the ECNJ/SENJ coast. Overnight lows should range from 40-50 NNJ-SNJ with cloudy skies and a few remaining sprinkles around.

Friday (April 3) high temperatures should reach the upper-60s/lower-70s for most NJ locations. Skies should improve after a cloudy early start. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall back to the mid-to-upper 50s for most NJ locations with mostly clear skies into the weekend.

An early look at the weekend (April 4-5) indicates milder conditions with highs up near 70 again. Can’t rule out more passing showers and rumbles. It’s that time of year. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
