This week should be a summery mix of weather across the region. Let’s dive right in…
Monday should range in the 80s for high temperatures (lower-80s for coastal regions and mid-to-upper 80s for interior NJ). Skies should start mostly clear but increasing cloud coverage is possible with an approaching warm front out of the SW. Winds should be very light (out of SW for most and SE for coast – “a sea breeze”). Overnight lows should fall into the upper-60s/lower-70s as rainfall approaches.
Tuesday should reach the lower-80s for high temperatures statewide. A passing weak low pressure disturbance should allow for scattered rainfall and possibly embedded thunderstorms. Humidity should be elevated so any breaks in sun should make for a swampy feel. Winds should be light out of the S/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the upper-60s/lower-70s as rainfall chances dissipate through sunrise on Wednesday.
Wednesday should reach the low-to-mid 80s for high temperatures statewide. A cold front will eventually pass through from the NW but until that happens, it should remain warm and humid with SW winds. The cold front could spark storms in front of it but not as scattered as Tuesday. Look for more of an isolated nature to showers and storms. The exact timing of the frontal passage is a bit uncertain right now but I would assume late-afternoon/early evening. Assuming storms are clear by midnight, overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most of New Jersey (upper-50s for NWNJ).
Thursday high temperatures should top out around 80 statewide. With the cold front through, there should be a more pleasant feel for most with sunny skies and some clouds. Only SNJ/SENJ should still be subject to noticeable humidity as the cold front might exhaust itself before clearing all of NJ. Winds should be light to breezy out of the NE and felt more along the coast. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most of New Jersey (upper-50s for NWNJ).
Friday high temperatures should top out around 80 statewide. Expect a mixed bag of sun and clouds. Winds should remain light to breezy out of the NE and again, felt more along the coast. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most of New Jersey (upper-50s for NWNJ).
An early look at the weekend indicates another cold frontal passage sometime on Saturday. Right now that looks to happen later in the day but we’re pretty far out for specific timing. It could, however, mean a stormy couple of hours in the middle of an otherwise great looking weekend.
