Nuisance Weather Expected (June 26-28)

This weekend will feature widespread rainfall at times but not a total washout. There should also be periods of lighter nuisance rain and possibly even a few breaks of sun. Let’s break it down:

Friday should reach the mid-to-upper 70s for high temperatures. Perhaps 80 is broken in a few spots. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a few breaks of sun. Isolated light rain showers are possible region-wide. Winds should be light out of the ENE. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most of New Jersey (perhaps upper-50s for higher elevations of NNJ).

Saturday high temperatures should only range from upper-70s to lower-60s statewide. The day might start with mostly cloudy skies but rain should start as early as late-morning in NNJ and spread through SNJ by late-afternoon. Expect rainfall to persist, on-off and heavy at times, overnight into Sunday morning. Expect 15-20mph winds out of the ESE with gusts to 30mph. They will be more noticeable along the coast. After all, we have low pressure transferring through from our west to the ocean so for a while, it might feel like a coastal storm. Very little beach erosion is expected, just some choppy surf. Overnight lows should drop into the 60s with moderate-to-heavy rainfall.

Sunday should reach the upper 70s/lower-80s statewide. The low pressure disturbance should be out to sea but more rain could move in from the NW. Expect a mixed bag of mostly clouds, a few sunny breaks, light rain showers and a few possible thunderstorms…not a total washout but nuisance conditions at times. Winds should be 10-15mph out of the SW with gusts to 25mph. Overnight lows should fall into the lower-60s/upper-50s statewide with clearing skies.

An early look at next week indicates average temperatures and conditions for this time of year (Sunny 80s with isolated PM boomers). Later on in the week, temperatures are expected to drop below-average leading into July 4th weekend.
