Pattern Starts to Improve

Discussion: It looks like some ridging will finally re-establish for the E US this weekend and next week. This will allow milder temperatures to build as we enter more of a summery pattern rather than a rainy spring pattern. Today (Friday) looks good. Tomorrow doesn’t look like a deluge/washout but showers around. Sunday looking pretty good away from the ocean. Next week looks warm and more settled until a Thursday-Friday frontal passage. Seeing a long-range synoptic rain signal around ~June 2 but we have time for that to evolve.

Friday (May 17) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s away from the ocean. Coastal regions likely mid-60s. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds with a milder feel. Winds should be light out of the E/NE. Overnight lows should fall to the mid-50s with rain likely moving in for Saturday.

Saturday (May 18) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 60s for most NJ locations. Skies should be mostly cloudy with showers around. Winds should be light out of the NE. Overnight lows should fall to the low-to-mid 50s for most of NJ.

Sunday (May 19) high temperatures should reach into the mid-to-upper 70s away from the ocean. Coastal areas likely pinned in the low-to-mid 60s. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Coastal regions could still see showers around. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the NE. Overnight lows should fall to the low-to-mid 50s for most of NJ.

An early look at next week indicates warmer temperatures, likely 80s away from the ocean and 70s along the coast. Looks a bit summery with a cold front (rain and storms) Thursday into Friday. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
