The Makers Festival was created by The MakeShift Union, made up of Erin Buterick, Dani Corso and Jeannine Errico, along with strategic partnerships with Dawn Simon of Swing Graphics, Jessie Temple of Bunkerfish Design and Brie Fagan of Wandering Gypsea.

The mission of The MakeShift Union is to help nurture and showcase homegrown artistic talent and business sensibilities while simultaneously providing a high-quality experience for the community. Our services range from hosting large scale curated events to helping other businesses bring their visions to life through education and consultation.

The mission of our festival is to highlight the underground current of Makers who are changing the landscape of production & consumerism in America, and more specifically, Ocean County where we live, work & play. It will be a day to celebrate the collective artistic endeavors of homegrown talent locally & beyond, and will feature over ten dozen Makers whose crafts include everything from handmade & vintage fashion, sculpting & woodworking, photography & fine art, craft beer, food and music.

The Sanctuary is a place to unwind, rest in a hammock, grab some water and take in the sights. At the 2016 Makers Festival, keep your eye out for the designated area set amongst a patch of trees lined with makeshift bungalows, rest tents, and hammocks. Here is where you’ll find ALO’s complimentary water station, along with complimentary screenings, detailed below.  It’s recommended that guests bring their own reusable water bottles, blankets, or beach chairs for your lounging pleasure.

Weather Forecast

The MakeShift Union picked a great day to have an outdoor event. Skies should be partly-to-mostly sunny and pleasant with afternoon high temperatures topping out in the upper-70s. We can thank a very light E/SE breeze off the ocean for this. High pressure will be situated just off our coast providing light anti-cyclonic flow responsible for the light breeze. Absolute September day perfection IMO.

Event hours are 10AM-6PM and will feature the most beautiful conditions of the day so get out there and enjoy! I’ll be hanging near the vendor tents of Greg Molyneux Photography, Reclaimed (Ben Wurst) and LBIF (Jeff Ruemeli and friends). Stop on by and say hello!

Be safe! JC
