Gorgeous Fall Conditions
Discussion: A rather zonal look to the upper levels this week with a general W/NW flow of colder air aloft from Canada. Most surface conditions will revolve around high pressure moving across the E US/Mid-Atlantic US from W to E. We’re coldest in front of the high (Today-Tues) AM), beautiful underneath the high (Wed-Thurs) and then we moderate milder behind the high (Friday-Weekend). But all conditions this week look dry with lower humidity. I would say below-average humidity and temps for the front part, then average temps and humidity for the latter parts. Either way, a gorgeous week ahead this week. Great to get outdoor stuff accomplished.
Forecast
Monday (Oct 5) high temperatures topped out in the upper-60s/near-70 for most NJ locations today (Monday). Skies are blue and it feels like proper fall conditions for NJ. Winds should remain light-to-breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall to the 40-50 range for most NJ locations, likely forcing many heaters on for the first time.
Tuesday (Oct 6) high temperatures should max in the low-to-mid 60s for most NJ locations. The coldest day of the week. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should drop to the 35-45 range. Frost concerns definitely for NNJ/NWNJ elevations, possibly some Pine Barrens.
Wednesday (Oct 7) high temperatures should reach near-70 for most NJ locations. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from 45-60 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.
Thursday (Oct 8) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s for most NJ locations. Skies should be mixed with more sun than clouds. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should drop to the 45-55 range NNJ to SNJ.
Friday (Oct 9) high temperatures should reach near-70 again. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should drop to the 45-55 range again NNJ to SNJ.
An early look at the weekend (Oct 10-11) indicates more of the same. At this point, we’re staring at a beautiful fall weekend with rain holding off until after the weekend, and only a maybe for early next week. The pumpkin spiced latte craze is now in full effect. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
